Dear Counter, when I ask what is good, the staff sometimes look like I have handed them an exam paper. How can I ask better?

Dear Hungry,

Give the question a little shape. “What is good today?” is a lovely opening. “I like spicy food, I have twenty minutes and I am very hungry” is a gift.

The staff are not grading you. They are trying to help you avoid ordering the thing you quietly dislike. Specificity is kindness with a napkin tucked into its collar.
